The SNCAT-IMSF View

SNCAT-IMSF is situated 9 kilometers from the hub of Surigao City. It can be reached by land and sea transportation. Hired motor are the usual vehicle easily available in coming out and in from this place. The institute started to strengthen its curricular services to the community in the year 1999 by virtue of Surigao City resolution. Fisheries programs are initially offered followed by trade and agriculture.


The college provides quality TVET delivery and skills development by urging its TRAINER to graduate in the Trainers Methodology and Assessors course and complied the mandatory assessment policy for the trainees. All the program qualifications offered are Unified TVET Program Registration and Accreditation System (UTPRAS registered).


SNCAT-IMSF offered Technical offered the Pangulong Gloria Scholarship (PGS) and ICARE. Trainees received also a Training Support Fund (TSF).  The scholarship  program catered to the out- of school youths, high school graduates and professionals. The community-technology based training will also cater to the  non-high school graduates and women of the community.


It likewise offer extension, consultancy and linkages programs. This project was carried out by the Surigao del Norte College of Agriculture and Technology-Farmers Information Technology Services (SNCAT-FITS).


Mangrove Profile of SNCAT-IMSF Day-asan, Surigao City




Barangay Day-asan, Surigao City is a coastal area endowed with serenity on its fishery resource. This consists of vast mangrove areas that have been the object of attraction when entering the place. This has beautifully lined crossing the boarders of several trenches that has produces electrifying currents during low and high tides.


It is eight kilometres from the hub of Surigao City. This can be reached by water born carrier and land vehicle. By land approaching the place a full view of Surigao City can be fully viewed which made it viable for the tourist to experience the exhilarating experience.


Surigao del Norte College of Agriculture and Technology-Institute of Marine Science can be found in this coastal barangay. Though it’s not popular with its infrastructure development, it pleasures with its mangrove conservation management. It stewards 57 hectares with second growth mangrove area officially approved by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.


It consists of species which is estimated to .03% Sonneratia, 9% Avicennia,  fruticans .07%,  90.9% Rhizophora . These mangroves positioned by a zonation going to seaward area. It protects the whole place of barangay from any untoward sea incidence.


The entire mangrove area is approximately occupied with 4 hectares household occupants, 1 hectare resort area (2 resorts) and several fish cages.

Objectives

Determines the annual performance output of the campus extended as mandated by its legal considerations. Specifically it aims to:

  • Evaluate the result of training on the qualification offered in the campus;
  • Identify the effect of the extension, consultancy and linkages served by the campus; and
  • Analyze the benefits of the services extended by the institute to the community.

  • Field Day on Science and Technology Based Production on Pineapple at Balibayon, Surigao City.
  • Produced mushroom and mushroom spawns.
  • Produced vegetable utilizing prototype gardening method.
  • Established milkfish grow-out project at Nabago, Surigao City.
  • Produced guppy ornamental fish in small concrete tanks.
  • Bred goldfish utilizing conventional impoundment.
  • Determined the quantitative output and impact in capacitating and empowering community people; and
  • Conducted trainings on 11 qualifications.
